brake line

I have an '87 F150 4x4. There is one brake line that goes to the rear brakes and then at the rear axle it goes into a tee. This tee feeds each side wheel. Also out of the tee there is a rubber hose that has some type of small device on it and it's mounted just below the bottom of the bed. The little device looks like some kind of breather but that doesn't make any sense. Does anyone have any idea what it might be?
I'm trying to bleed the brakes and I have a leaking line on the left side.

You'll likely find the line is 3/16" and has two different size fittings on each end, you'll need a appropriate length of ready made brake line and an adapter shown below to use it. A ready made line will have the same size fitting on both ends, one end to small.

Just in case you where not already aware.

Thanks for the pics. I haven't even gotten to the brake line yet as I'm still trying to get the bleed screws working. This whole truck has been metric EXCEPT the bleed screws. A 9mm wrench is to small and a 10mm wrench is to big but a 3/8" wrench fits perfectly. I had to replace both bleed screws but now I'm thinking they are incorrect. I replaced exactly what came out but I don't think it's right.

Make that a 5/16" wrench.
