Dashpot help! Need bracket or measurements for one.
We have a '58 with a six, single barrel and auto. We need a dashpot bracket and dashpot. More so the bracket. Does anyone have one or pictures of one installed with some measurements so we can make one? I have the breakdown in the service manual but need a picture of one on the carb to see just how it fits and not the exploded view.
Thanks
Sean
I think this might help; snagged it off the Old Car Manual Project site. I assume your carb is some variant of a Holley 1904?
From what I see, there is no bracket -- the dashpot screws into a tab on the body of the carb. If your carb is not from an A/T vehicle, it may not have the tab? (Note the pics are from a manual for IHC trucks, so they may not be correct for a Ford)
National Parts Depot page 114 shows a bracket for the dashpot for 58-66 trucks with Ford 2100 2v or 4100 4v carbs. Part 9B550-5A. There is also a picture of the part, I think they list it for $!0. NPD is one of the FTE sponsors.

Ross,
Your picture shows it much better than mine. It is the same thing. I need the "cam" that the dashpot adjusting screw goes in. Your pic shows a spring there too. Looks like the dashpot screws into the carb. I checked on my carb and it has the boss for it.
Now, who has one of these elusive critters?........

It's a lever, hard to tell, but it is on the same side of the carb as the dashpot, pivots on a screw shown in the pic. Pretty hokey setup, to be honest. I don't know who has it, did you check the Nat'l Parts Depot? I'd watch eBay for a junk carb that still has it.
1952, the bracket I am missing is for the passenger car carb. It's kind of shaped like a number 7. If you have one I will gladly pay you what you think its worth. Otherwise, I will have to make my own. Thanks, Jag
