Hey guys,
check this out. i don't know if this has been done before, but I felt great after a day long project to install these little guys! my pics are at my user gallery.
wow! good job! i ordered the instrument cluster gauge pod for my 2002. if it blocks the stock gauges like i fear then im going to look into what you did. was it hard to do?was the laying out and drilling hard?
I was also going to buy the instrument bezel but the guages are hard to see with the steering wheel all the way down. The guage next to the steering wheel is hard to see when the shift lever is in Drive. But for 30 dollars for guages and me installing them, I can't beat it. I just didn't want to pay 65 bucks for a bezel and 35 bucks for each guage. This is more custom and looks really cool. The dash plastic was thick and I was sweating I would screw it up! I used a dremel tool to cut the holes. The hardest thing was centering it. There is plenty of room behind those panels for these guages. I think the voltage guage looks cool next to the power point connector. The guages are iEquus Performance guages. 1.5" in size. Mech.or Elec. I'm using Mech.

wow. i ordered the ins cluster. they said if it was too blocking i could return it. i think it is but it was worth a shot. i really like yours. i only need 2 gauges so your idea is top notch. i thought you used a hole saw. was it just the plastic or is it metal backed?
I installed two autometer gauges in the same spot. I put in the 2-1/16" sized ones though. They just barely fit. I used a hole-saw to put mine in, but you're right, getting them centered is hard. Well worth the time though. A little hard seeing the pyro sometimes but you don't have to move very far to see it. Yours turned out very well. Good thing I don't have ESOF!!!! ( more than one reason for that though!) Just thought somebody would like to see another install like that. You can look in my gallery and see it. I just got it set up, so it is the only picture. Took it after I read your post.
The gauges push in from the front and are held by a U-shaped bracket (on the back) that pull the gauge down on the mounting surface by a couple of long studs that stick out of the back of the gauges and some nuts. By the way, on another subject, how tall is that cubby hole above your stereo. That would make a good spot for some switches and things in dash without pokin' more holes. When I get an air compressor and some more lights, I will need the space. I still have factory radio w/ cd / tape player, but I am thinking about replacing it.

Did you remove the dash panel in order to install the guages or did you do it while it was still in place? If you removed the panel could you give some details as to how you removed it.
