Terry, I beleive you will have to run the shorties or block huggers to make that combo work in your truck. There was never a 351W installed in the 65-79 series and that is what you are dealing with.
Lloyd as long as you have a FE and ordered them for a FE you should be ok, but FE headers won't fit a 351W. As I posted earlier the 351W was not offered in our series truck.
Thank John, that's a refreshing thought as all this stuff is brand new to me. I really want badly to have a nice truck one day and God willing I will get there eventually. The only thing I know a lot about is body work and that will save me a ton!!! This engine I am having built seems to keep asking for more stuff though, haha (maybe it's me wanting all new parts, even external)?
you could try running 302 headers on it for the same year truck they do have the same bolt pattern seeing as it is also a small block im almost positive that will work i got long tube headers on my trucks ons has a 302 the other a 360
any other thigs you can think of that you mite have a problem with feel free to ask oh and the real problem will be getting over the cross member with the pipe i had to ordered some special collectors and had some pipe made for me all 2.5 pipes to good luck
Check in the search forums of my past posts. I put a 351W (stroker 393) in my 69 F100 Ranger and trust me, there is no header made that will fit your 351W perfectly. After redesigning some of the tubes I made a set of Hooker super comps (67-79 Ford truck with 302) work and all of the headaches involved was well worth it. Good luck on yours.
