We're puppy sitting for my in-laws. For ... well, till Thursday. Raising your own puppies is one thing, but dog sitting a puppy for half a week, not cool. It's a Jack Russell, don't know how old he is, but he likes stealing my daughter's toys, barking at my dogs, and generally annoying the heck out of me.
I've warned him a few times that I can arrange short notice flight school. With a crash course in crash landing.
I'd never throw a dog, seriously, but this pup is wearing thin on me already.
We've got a little program all nicely typed up by my father in law about what and how etc to deal with the pup. Supposedly he likes to get outside to pee at 3 AM. I'm all for consistency in training a dog, but 3 AM? Not much gets me up at 3 AM.
He eats 3 times a day, no problem. Crate training is still ongoing. Happy to report no pee when we got home from Thanksgiving dinner, but we let him out anyway.
Not 1 minute after being let back in, he shat on the floor. On the baby's play mat, to be clear. I remember our dogs as puppies doing that, and we both swore we'd never get another puppy. And here we are, 5 years later, and we're dog sitting a puppy.
Glad it's only temporary. Thanks for letting me rant.
GF just brought one home day before yesterday. Didn't even asked first.
That's actually what my father in law did. Went out to "look" at a puppy, and my mother in law got a call from the lady selling the pup asking what time to expect him. She's about a 1.5 hour drive from their house. So my MIL got the news from the seller, and had a good 2.5 - 3 hours to stew on it before my FIL got home.
Sure enough, he comes home with the dog. Then, he has the gall to tell his wife to watch the dog for a while so he can go out to get some dog supplies ie food, pee pads, dog bed, crate etc.
I guess a puppy will grow on a person though.
We took him for a walk today by himself, without our dogs. He's not that bad. Just don't like poo or pee everywhere.
