I hear you on that, I took the steps off my truck cause I had to fix the mounting, and all I got was bitched at every time I picked the girl up in it, I get smacked if I talk about putting a lift on it...
Yeah your truck is pretty massive, and I confess I'm curios how I'd get into that truck, and I'm 6'2"....
Once I get my idi up and running nicely, I'm gonna get a 79 ford bronco body, drop it on a Superduty F350 frame with a 7.3L PSD, and give it enough of a lift to handle 40's with some travel.
Defiantly gonna have to get that sticker for her. I'm thinking cherry red with a Canadian Flag design on the roof.
for a SD frame to fit 40's your gonna need a 10" lift. if you go with a obs then you'll be fine with 6" lift. and gettin into my truck isnt bad, throw one leg on the step, give her a little hop and your in and im only 5'11"
Now that I look closer I see the step, I just assumed it was part of the lift.
I was thinking about the obs, for it being slightly easier mounting the body, but then I remembered the 7.3L in 99+ had 20 more hp and 25 more foot lb's of torque. Now I don't know if they just adjusted the computer or not, but Superduty Powerstrokes are so common up here, that I see 5-20 a day, vs the obs, maybe 1 a week.
ya, the 99-03 7.3l sd is a great truck. their suspension is softer and they already have the shackles in the rear so that makes for a better ride too. you'd just have to build body mounts and basically everything else lol. the obs would be a direct bolt on for the most part. just have to shorten the heck outta the frame.
