This year’s North American International Auto Show in Detroit was different than a lot of the auto shows before it. There was tons of positive energy, a lot of great announcements, and a focus on performance over green technologies.
For the 2017 model year, Ford is introducing a new Raptor that is powered by an entirely different engine. Under the hood of the new Raptor is a 3.5L turbocharged EcoBoost V6.

The 2015 North American International Auto Show starts on Monday, and Ford’s official press conference announcing a plethora of new performance vehicles is at 9:10 am, but until then we now have a better idea of what to expect thanks to a leaked floor plan.
To much sadness, Ford didn’t continue to make the Raptor for the 2015 model year. But the end is not near for the off-road, high-flying monster. Sales of the Raptor have always been strong, making it obvious a new truck was in the works.
Here in the United States, we have some pretty impressive police interceptors. A V8 Charger isn’t exactly a slouch. But if you live in a country where fleeing off-road is even more of an option, you need some serious hardware to pursue. In Australia, that’s a Ford F-150 SVT Raptor converted for police duty.
