Rare 1-of-12 1967 K Bar S Ford Bronco Surfaces for Sale
Bronco fans from the ’80s undoubtedly remember K Bar S. Now, one of their very few full builds is headed to auction.
From the day the Ford Bronco first hit dealer lots, it was a popular target for customization. Thus, a healthy aftermarket soon emerged. There were a host of companies producing all sorts of parts and even turnkey custom Broncos. One of which was K Bar S out of Las Vegas, Nevada. The Bronco vendor came along in the early ’80s, offering a host of parts and even a full build if customers so desired. One of which was this particular 1967 example, one of only 12 known to still exist.
Even better, the incredibly rare find is headed to Mecum’s Las Vegas auction, taking place November 15-17. We’re betting that this gem is going to fetch a healthy hammer price, especially given everyone’s rejuvenated interest in the Ford Bronco. You surely won’t find a more obscure or rare example, that’s for sure. Even though this one, which was rediscovered back in 1992, obviously needs a little work.
Then again, you’ll probably want to leave it as is. The paint, lettering, body panels, and pretty much everything else here is completely original. It simply looks like somebody stuck this K Bar S Bronco in storage and left it there. And from what we can see, it looks to be in pretty remarkable shape given those circumstances.
Unfortunately, K Bar S went out of business in the ’90s and remains a pretty unknown name today. But those who were around and in the Bronco hobby back in the ’80s undoubtedly remember flipping through the pages of their catalogs. Thus, if nothing else, we’re guessing at least one person will be more than happy to take home this small and obscure piece of Bronco history!
