The new kit is an easy way to add serious power to Coyote-swapped 1988-1996 F-150 and first-gen Lightning pickups.

In recent years, Ford’s 5.0-liter Coyote V8 has become an incredibly popular swap for all kinds of older Blue Oval vehicles. This includes eighth- and ninth-gen Ford F-150 pickups, which offered little in the way of thrilling performance, like pretty much everything built during the 1980s and 1990s. Problem is, like any engine swap, there aren’t many bolt-on forced induction solutions for these older Coyote-powered pickups, which forces owners to come up with custom kits. That is no longer the case, however, as ProCharger is now selling bolt-on supercharger kits for 1988-1996 F-150 and first-gen Lightning models.

The new system consists of ProCharger’s Stage II Intercooled Tuner Kit with its P-1SC-1 supercharger, which offers gains similar to those enjoyed by 2015+ Mustang owners. The two kits share a number of components, including an ultra-high flowing air-to-air intercooler with a 1,103 cubic-inch core, an 8-rib dedicated supercharger drive system, and a CNC billet aluminum bracket and tensioner system, all of which can support well over 1,000 horsepower. The only requirement is that owners utilize the Mustang’s front timing cover, which is commonly used in these swaps anyway.

Those that want more can opt for one of numerous other available options, which include a 10 rib drive system, ProCharger’s P-1X through F-1A-94 head units, a helical gear set that reduces noise, a crank support system for ultra-high horsepower applications, and polished, black, or satin finishes. No matter which options buyers choose, the bolt-on kits are designed to work with a number of applications, from stock engines to highly modified ones, though a custom tune will obviously extract the most performance from any of them.

Pairing one of these ProCharger kits with the increasingly common Coyote swap seen in ninth-gen F-150s and first-gen Lightning pickups is a quick and easy way to instill serious horsepower in a very common older truck, which should make it a popular choice for many. Pricing starts out at $6,299 minus tuning or fuel components, and a complete price list can be found here.
