Pristine 2003 Ford Ranger Edge Plus Has Just 2K Original Miles
This 2003 Ford Ranger Edge Plus isn’t a sought-after collectible, but it might just reset the market at auction.
With collectors finally adding pickup trucks to their list of sought-after items some time ago, it isn’t uncommon to see time capsule-like vehicles emerging from decades in storage and selling for high prices at auction. This phenomenon has led to some pretty amazing finds in recent years, as well as some record-breaking sales. This 2003 Ford Ranger Edge Plus up for grabs at Bring a Trailer is quite an uncommon find in today’s world, particularly since it has just 2,300 original miles, but it’s also an interesting case as it’s not really a sought-after collectible – at least not yet.
While collectors have flocked to the Bronco and pickups as new as the 1990s, the last-gen Ranger isn’t exactly something that people are stashing away with the hopes of garnering massive returns on their investment. Sure, we’ve seen Ranger prices rise to new heights recently thanks to the used vehicle market’s surge, but nobody is actually collecting the compact pickup. That might just change with this Ford Ranger Edge Plus, however, which is a collectible version of this model if we’ve ever seen one.
Most are familiar with the Edge package, which added a host of goodies to XL-trimmed pickups including body-color bumpers, body-color wheel lip moldings. mud flaps, anti-roll bars, and a textured vinyl floor to the long-running model. Tacking on the “Plus” part of the equation also netted buyers a six-disc CD changer, 16-inch alloy wheels, cruise control, and power everything for another $2,485.
Today, you rarely see Edge Plus-equipped Rangers, making this perhaps the nicest in existence, at least. Inside and out, there are virtually zero blemishes to note, as one might expect from a truck with 2k original miles. It was owned by one person nearly its entire life, and today looks factory fresh in every conceivable way. It was also nicely equipped for its time, boasting an original sticker price of $21,810.
Bidding is already up over the $10k mark as of this writing with a few days to go, so it’ll certainly be interesting to see what this cool little pickup ultimately sells for. Personally, we wouldn’t be surprised if it at least reaches or exceeds MSRP, a truly amazing feat for a model we used to consider a disposable bargain.
