Stellar 1986 Ford F-350 May Have Just 7k Original Miles

In very nice overall condition, this 1986 Ford F-350 lacks documentation, which makes it a bit of an enigma.

Over the last couple of years, old trucks have become highly sought after among collectors, who ignored them for decades prior to the current boom. At the same time, that interest has rooted a number of low-mile pickups from storage, resulting in some pretty impressive time capsule sales and auctions. The latest is this 1986 Ford F-350 currently up for grabs at Bring a Trailer, which has all the makings of a 7k original-mile find, though it lacks the documentation to back up that odometer reading, save for the Carfax.

Whether or not this 1986 Ford F-350 really does have just 7k original miles is up for debate, but it’s a super nice rig, regardless. The previous owner reportedly gave it a repaint years ago, and the results speak for themselves. The exterior looks to be in excellent condition, with shiny trim and paint, along with white steel wheels wrapped with mismatched tires, for some odd reason. Thankfully, that’s a pretty easy fix.

Inside the cabin, a reupholstered blue vinyl bench seat with patterned inserts, faux wood trim, and lots of blue everywhere frame an interior that is mostly lacking amenities, save for the heater, floor mats, and AM/FM cassette stereo. But such is how trucks were built in the older days – simply. Everything in here is as tidy as the outside, which is more important than having fancy features.

Pop the hood, and you’ll find Ford’s 460 cubic-inch V8, which is mated to a four-speed manual transmission and two-speed transfer case, sending its power to either the rear or all four wheels with a limited-slip differential out back. The engine bay and undercarriage are a bit crusty looking, but nothing that a little elbow grease can’t rectify.

Overall, this 1986 F-350 is a bit of an enigma, and the seller would have been better served cleaning it up a bit underneath and trying to document its original mileage before the auction began. However, the market is red hot right now, and we wouldn’t be surprised to see some truck-crazed collector pay a big premium for this very nice specimen, regardless.
