Ford Reveals Three New Bronco Variants
During a recent presentation, three new Ford Bronco variants were revealed, each with a totally different customer in mind.
Ford has made it quite clear that it generates a considerable amount of profit from derivatives, or special/limited-edition models based on existing products. This list is quite vast in the world of the Blue Oval, and includes things like the Explorer ST, Explorer and Expedition Timberline, the Raptor trio, and many, many more. In the Ford Bronco lineup, customers can already choose from the Everglades, Raptor, and Heritage models, but soon, they’ll have three more variants available as well, as Ford Authority just discovered.
During Ford’s 2023 Capital Markets Day presentation, Ford Blue president Kumar Galhotra reveled that the automaker has not just one or two, but three new Ford Bronco variants coming soon – a “Work” model, “Premium” variant, and “Heritage +” derivative. FoMoCo didn’t provide any additional details about these new SUVs, nor did it show what they look like, as each was simply presented under a cover on the big screen.
However, that doesn’t mean we can’t speculate about what each might represent in the general hierarchy of the Bronco lineup. For starters, the Work model could very well be a commercial or fleet-focused offering designed to appeal to those that want a basic, bare-bones vehicle at the lowest possible cost, one devoid of frills and fancy features. It’s unclear who such a product might appeal to, but we imagine that Ford has determined a need in that regard.
As for the Premium variant, well, that’s a bit more interesting. It’s no secret that new truck shoppers love their luxury trims, and the Bronco doesn’t really offer something on par with, say, the Land Rover Defender. It’s possible that FoMoCo plans on doing precisely that, maybe even something that addresses the current model’s wind noise on the highway. Of course, it’s also possible that the Premium model just has nicer features and fancier materials inside the cabin, too.
The Heritage +, on the other hand, is a bit more wide open. The Heritage and Heritage Limited already add a considerable number of retro-themed goodness to the iconic SUV, but there’s always room for more, right? Aside from Oxford White accents, perhaps the plus model will add even more, or maybe it’ll just be a better-equipped version of the existing model. For now, we don’t have much to go by, but one thing is quite clear – Ford is going to keep creating and selling Bronco derivatives, so long as people keep buying them, at least.
