Ford Ranger Recall Expanded Due to Faulty Airbag Inflators
To date, 22 deaths have occurred because of the faulty airbag inflators. Upon impact, they can explode with excessive force, sending metal fragments into the driver and passenger. Owners of affected Ford Ranger models are urged to stop driving their trucks immediately until the defective parts are replaced.
Ford and Mazda have replacement airbag inflators on hand right now. Both are offering to tow affected vehicles, free of charge, to dealerships for repairs. Alternatively, mobile repair teams can complete the job at the owner’s residence. Ford is also offering loaner vehicles for free if needed. So far, only around one fourth of the initial 2,900 Rangers recalled have been repaired.
