Daily Slideshow: George Washington Would Want a Ford Truck

We're pretty confident that our first president would have been a Ford guy. And here's how he would celebrate a holiday weekend!

Take a Trip to the Lake

If ol' GW was lucky enough to live somewhere where the weather is fair this time of year, we'd bet he'd do what millions of Americans do most every weekend: head out to the local waters for some fun. Maybe he'd take a spin around the lake in his boat, or even go for a swim (hopefully placing a hair net over that ridiculous 'do first). But no matter what, he'd undoubtedly have his beloved hound dogs Tartar, Truelove, and Sweet Lips with him. And yes, those were their actual names!

Go Shopping

President's Day sales offer up some of the best deals of the year on everything from clothes to mattresses. Afterall, what's more American than fighting for parking spots at crowded shopping malls to spend money on crap we don't need? If nothing else, Mr. Washington would have to appease Mrs. Washington and the kiddos, but he could also maybe score a good deal on a fresh ruffled shirt or two. And with the F-Series carnivorous cargo capacity, he'd have plenty of room to fill up his closet!

Take a Road Trip

Another distinctly American activity, the classic road trip is something that old GW was familiar with, even before the automobile was invented. He helped plan the construction of the nation's capital in Washington, D.C. (obviously) after New York City and Philadelphia previously served as such. These days, it'd be a whole lot easier for GW to check in on his local governments. And he could take them each a load of cherries in the back of his Ford truck to help ease political tensions.

Shoot off Some Fireworks

At the end of a long, eventful day, Washington could swing by the local fireworks stand and load up the bed of his Ford truck with Chinese-made explosives. Because blowing stuff up is what we do, right? President's Day might not be the quintessential weekend for doing so, but George Washington can do whatever the heck he wants. After all, we're talking about the highest-ranking U.S. military member, ever. The guy was named General of the Armies of the United States back in 1976 because, well, he's George Washington. He beat the Brits, set the standard for the American soldier, and fathered the entire military. So if he wants to pop off some bottle rockets this weekend, who's gonna stop him?

General Washington Would Have Used a Ford Truck

Could you imagine what life in America would be like today had George Washington been outfitted with a Dodge RAM? The RAM may be a decent truck, but it's certainly not Ford Tough, nor is it Washington Tough! Those harrowing excursions across the Delaware to surprise attack the Redcoats at Trenton could have changed the course of the war and our country. Not that Washington had a choice between Dodge or Ford back in 1776, but if he did, we are fairly certain Ford would have led him to victory against Lord Cornwallis. On the other hand, the Dodge, well... today we might be pledging our allegiance to Prince William, Kate Middleton, Little George, and Charlotte.
