Takin’ Care of Business: Ford Q1 Numbers Boosted by Truck, SUV Sales
Ford remains the undisputed champ of trucks, with the F-series driving first quarter sales up from 2018.
When it comes to truck sales, all Ford does is win. At least according to their most recent Q1 reports. The Blue Oval just reported its first quarter 2019 U.S. sales results, and the news was good. Strong sales were consistent for the F-Series and entire truck lineup, plus the numbers also showed growth in their van and SUV segments.
Lincoln made a strong showing for the automaker, with sales up by 11.2%, Lincoln’s best first quarter in ten years. Also setting records was Ford’s SUV’s, with sales up 3.5%, a Q1 best.
Truck sales were up 4.1% from last year. Demand for Ford’s pricier trims in both trucks and SUVs remained strong throughout the quarter. The introduction of the Ford Ranger proved a strong move for the automaker.
Sales of Ford’s pickup trucks, vans, and SUVs, including Lincoln SUVs, accounted for 83% of the company’s total vehicle sales. The F-Series is an unstoppable force, with F-150s alone making up about half of Ford’s total sales.
As to why Ford trucks perform so well, Ford had a simple answer: “Customers continue to choose high series and the latest technologies,” said Ford.
