Did you know that Ford makes more vehicles than just their F-Series trucks and the Mustang? They even make more than the upcoming Ranger and Bronco, too! It just so happens that those other vehicles Ford makes are pretty good, and Ford just revealed their latest non-Bronco ahead of the LA Auto Show. Ladies and gentlemen, the new 2017 Ford Escape.

The current generation Escape is a solid piece of kit, built on top of the Focus platform. The changes for 2017 are good, if not Earth-shattering. Engines include everyone’s favorite 2.0L EcoBoost, along with the new 1.5L, both with Start / Stop technology.

A redesigned noise brings the Escape in line with Ford’s current design language, and looks pretty good to us. It’s a stylish look that’s not over-the-top or too cartoonish. It’s a subtle evolution more than a completely new visual design.

But it does get a whole slew of new technology, as you’d expect. SYNC 3 is on tap, and it’s the first Ford vehicle to take advantage SYNC Connect, which allows owners to unlock and lock the doors and remote start the car from their mobile phone.

Parallel and perpendicular park assist with a park out function are now available. Those technologies were only available on the Escape’s bigger siblings, but now they’re brought here for added safety and convenience. Lastly, adaptive cruise control with collision warning is available.

As a 2017, don’t expect it on sale any time soon. It’ll be in dealerships sometime next year, but if you happen to be in LA for the auto show, be sure to check it out!
