What if Ford Built a Super Raptor or Revived the Lightning?
The new Ford Raptor is insane. With Ford’s new retuned 3.5-liter EcoBoost V6 pumping out more than 400 horsepower, the new Raptor is sure to be a handful. But what if Ford didn’t stop there?
There is already a Shelby Raptor offered, but what if for the all-new 2017 Raptor, Ford stuffed the mighty 3.5-liter motor from the new GT under the hood. Even if they downtuned it to 550 horsepower, it would make the Raptor one of the fastest and most powerful production gasoline trucks ever created.
Or what if Ford dropped the Raptor name and revived the Lightning nameplate using the same engine, but in a lowered F-150 that made use of carbon fiber to cut weight further? Take the idea of a “sport truck” to its most logical conclusion. It is no secret that FCA is going to be working up a Hellcat version of the Ram trucks, so why not beat them to the punch?
Ford has all the tools at its disposal to create the most incredible truck this world has ever seen. I hope it happens. What do you guys think? Is this something that you believe Ford needs to look at, and if they did, how much would you pay for a Ford GT-powered sport truck?
