Captain America-themed 1965 Ford F-100 is Quite a Marvel

Captain America Ford F-100 Front

Customized 1965 Ford F-100 must have been the superhero’s daily driver when he was laying low.

While flipping through the thousands of Ford trucks listed for sale on Fossil Cars, we came across this cool 1965 F-100. It features a modern stroker motor and a high gloss clear coat over the original rusty finish, creating a truck that runs like new but looks old and worn from a distance. It needs some work, but this F-100 appears to be ready to drive and turn heads at your local Cars & Coffee.

Unique Exterior

As you can see in the few pictures included here, this 1965 Ford F-100 appears be wearing classic blue-green paint that has worn through on the hood, fenders, doors, and bedsides. This antique pickup also has some crude writing on the side that reads “Captain America.” There is also a Captain America shield logo on both front doors, finished in the same rough fashion as the rest of the paint. So, there’s that….

Captain American 1965 F-100 Side

We have seen Captain America Ford trucks before. But this one is a little different. What makes this rough appearance so unique is that it has been clear-coated, resulting in a high gloss surface over the rough paint. The 1965 F-100 also has clean-looking chrome from front to rear, so this classic pickup is show-worthy, but you have to appreciate the unique patina look.

Modern Performance Upgrades

While the unique exterior will draw the most attention, the big news is what we cannot see from the outside. This 1965 F-100 has a 347-cubic inch stroker motor that is said to deliver over 400 horsepower, with help from headers, a full exhaust system and modern engine electronics.

Unfortunately, the advertisement doesn’t mention that type of transmission, rear differential, or suspension are in this truck. But we know that it has four-wheel disc brakes, power steering, air conditioning, and late model wheels wrapped in new rubber. We also know that key portions of the interior have been painted, but the cabin needs to be put back together to complete the project.

This 1965 Ford F-100 seems like an awesome project truck, until you come to the price. This truck is listed for $35,995, which seems a little high for a vehicle that requires some assembly and has clear coat over smooth rust and crude custom paint work. However, if you are hunting for a unique Ford truck with modern (super) power, this could be your ideal summer cruiser.

"Before I was old enough to walk, my dad was taking me to various types of racing events, from local drag racing to the Daytona 500," says Patrick Rall, a lifetime automotive expert, diehard Dodge fan, and respected auto journalist for over 10 years. "He owned a repair shop and had a variety of performance cars when I was young, but by the time I was 16, he was ready to build me my first drag car – a 1983 Dodge Mirada that ran low 12s. I spent 10 years traveling around the country, racing with my dad by my side. While we live in different areas of the country, my dad still drag races at 80 years old in the car that he built when I was 16 while I race other vehicles, including my 2017 Dodge Challenger SRT Hellcat and my 1972 Dodge Demon 340.

"Although I went to college for accounting, my time in my dad’s shop growing up allowed me the knowledge to spend time working as a mechanic before getting my accounting degree, at which point I worked in the office of a dealership group. While I was working in the accounting world, I continued racing and taking pictures of cars at the track. Over time, I began showing off those pictures online and that led to my writing.

"Ten years ago, I left the accounting world to become a full-time automotive writer and I am living proof that if you love what you do, you will never “work” a day in your life," adds Rall, who has clocked in time as an auto mechanic, longtime drag racer and now automotive journalist who contributes to nearly a dozen popular auto websites dedicated to fellow enthusiasts.

"I love covering the automotive industry and everything involved with the job. I was fortunate to turn my love of the automotive world into a hobby that led to an exciting career, with my past of working as a mechanic and as an accountant in the automotive world provides me with a unique perspective of the industry.

"My experience drag racing for more than 20 years coupled with a newfound interest in road racing over the past decade allows me to push performance cars to their limit, while my role as a horse stable manager gives me vast experience towing and hauling with all of the newest trucks on the market today.

"Being based on Detroit," says Rall, "I never miss the North American International Auto Show, the Woodward Dream Cruise and Roadkill Nights, along with spending plenty of time raising hell on Detroit's Woodward Avenue with the best muscle car crowd in the world.
