Blown F-150 Lightning Cookin Up Clouds: Tire Smokin’ Tuesday

By -

First gen SVT Lightning looks & sounds great while roasting the rear tires.

This week’s Tire Smokin Tuesday video comes to us from the northern redneck life YouTube channel and it features a supercharged first generation Ford F-150 SVT Lightning putting on a sweet smoke show. All Lightnings will do solid burnouts, but the added supercharged makes this early SVT pickup a tire smoking monster.

The First Gen Lightning, Blown

The first generation Ford F-150 SVT Lightning was introduced for the 1993 model year as one of the best-performing factory pickups ever. This short bed, short cab, half-ton pickup was powered by a 5.8-liter Windsor V8 delivering 240 horsepower and 340 lb-ft of torque. That made it one of the quickest stock trucks at that time while also making for quite the burnout machine – packing all of that power with little weight over the rear wheels.

However, this isn’t a stock Lightning. The owner of this truck has added an aftermarket hood, big wheels, a louder exhaust system and – most importantly – a supercharger. The boost in power makes this F-150 an even better tire-slayer, as is displayed in this great video.

The Boss Doing Donuts

This video begins as the cameraman walks out to the parking lot of his work, where the boss is doing donuts in his supercharged F-150 SVT Lightning. Before we can see the truck, we can hear it and as the F-150 comes into camera view, it has already begun to create a cloud of smoke.

Throughout the course of the 44-second video, the boss keeps the low-profile tires of his blown Lightning spinning as the 5.8-liter V8 roars. During the burnout, we see that the boss’s F-150 looks pretty good from all sides while sounding great and the clip ends as the original SVT pickup slides to a stop alongside an SVT Raptor.
