1971 Ford F-250 Is a High-Riding, Refurbished Blue Beauty

Following a recent refurbishment, this gorgeous 1971 Ford F-250 is one fine-looking Highboy.

For years, the non-official term “Highboy” was given to a number of high-riding Blue Oval pickups that towered above the competition, quite literally. Today, the Highboy is a celebrated vehicle in a time when lifted trucks are arguably more popular than ever, and that makes this stellar 1971 Ford F-250 up for grabs at Bring a Trailer even more desirable, though it’s also one heck of a nice vintage pickup on its own regard.

Much of that can be attributed to the fact that this 1971 Ford F-250 was treated to a refurbishment of sorts before the seller acquired it last year, which included a repaint in the original two-tone blue. The bodywork looks simply fantastic, while the chrome and trim is shiny and in solid condition as well. Perhaps more importantly, the previous owner didn’t mess with what wasn’t broken here, even leaving the original steel 16-inch wheels in place, along with a set of Specialty Tires of America bias-ply Superlug tires.

They did perform a few modifications underneath, however, adding a steering stabilizer and dampers from Skyjacker, along with rear lift blocks. The original drum brakes are still in place, while the interior is bone stock with perfect blue threads, a two-spoke steering wheel, a heater, a dome light, crank windows, and not a whole lot else – this is a basic workhorse, after all.

This 1971 Ford F-250 is powered by a replacement 390 V8, which breathes through dual exhaust and is mated to a four-speed manual transmission and a dual-range transfer case. The engine bay -as well as the undercarriage – is incredibly clean and sanitary, and it’s pretty obvious that the past two owners took immaculate care of the vintage pickup.

Now, it’s ready to move on to a new owner, and given the popularity of this older Ford pickups these days, that won’t be a problem. Bids quickly reached the $30k mark with four days to go as of this writing, and we imagine that there’s still some room to grow there. But then again, who can resist a good Highboy?
