my new to me F350 XLT CCLB 5 speed 4x4 with hidden goose hitch
300k miles
tires are fairly new, front end needs rebuilding as the steering is sloppy
my kids are liking the room it has compared to the Tacoma for camping trips.
This is my first Diesel truck, but not my first diesel, and hunting the net for info is fun.
It runs a lil rough on the high way so filters and oil change to start with.

Reason: flatulance
That is a nice looking truck. The first thing I'd do (of course you're going to have to start modding it and adding accessories because it's fun to do) is get some 1500, 2000 and then 3000 grit sandpaper, and a wool or foam pad (if you have a rotary polisher or drill you can use in it's place.) Then take water and spray and sand those headlights in stages, finish off with the foam and some rubbing compound! You'll be amazed at how great the lights will look. I just did it to mine and my brother's truck and they looked brand new!
It will make you're already great looking truck look that much sharper!
Looks to be stock, but you are also ahead of the game with the 6637 intake and the downpipe that's already on there. Those are some or the first mods we do and they are already done! Hopefully your turbo is in good shape. It also looks like someone put the oilfill riser tube on there. That's not an OBS thing, so another score for you. Nice truck and good start!
Thanks for the info. I see some oil drips on the turbo boot. I'll be looking into a rebuild kit for it. hopefully tonight when I get home I can start running some pressure tests. Been raining all week here and the front tires are sinking into the ground a bit. might make it easier to reach things though. anyone build a platform to work on these? I am 5-11 tall and I fell like a lil kid working on it.
Missing a pedestal bolt on the turbo, which means thats been off and likely been rebuilt hopefully. Oil fill has the nice riser too which is a plus. Looks to be fairly clean and stock and that is what you want!
Yeah, some guys have the "painter's platform" that had the folding legs at each end and stand about 12" tall. It's a nice thing to have because it's almost as long as the truck is wide.

Oil on the boots is typical of the crankcase vent. Go read about the CCV mod and its the cheapest most straight forward thing you can do on them.
If you want something that you will really appreciative down the road working on these trucks. Get a topside creeper! My wife bought me one and I wish I would have done it a long time ago!
I just lay with my hip on the radiator and elbow on one VC or the other, depending on what side I'm working on. Not the best ergonomic position but it gets the job done
