This short bed four-wheel-drive 1979 Ford F-150 pickup quite literally has it all, and by that, we mean not much.

Ask most Blue Oval fans what their idea of the perfect pickup is, and we’d wager that many, if not most, would say the same thing – something from the 1970s with a short bed and four-wheel-drive. That combination was less common back in this era, making trucks like this 1979 Ford F-150 – currently listed for sale at Bring a Trailer – a welcome sight when we do come across them. On top of that, this red beauty has virtually everything a Ford truck fan could ever want from a pickup.

That includes just the right amount of mods, which were added when the truck was refurbished back in 2012. At that time, it also received a color change from its original Wimbledon White hue to the current red. There’s certainly nothing wrong with white, but we imagine most prefer the new color, as red just looks right at home on trucks from this era.

Underneath, the previous owner fortified the suspension a bit with manually-locking Warn hubs, a Skyjacker suspension lift kit, upgraded shocks, and steering stabilizers. That makes room for a set of polished 15-inch Mickey Thompson wheels wrapped with 35-inch BFGoodrich All-Terrain KO tires, a common sight on Ford trucks from this era for obvious reasons.

The simple theme continues inside the cabin, where you’ll find refreshed upholstery and a black and red theme. Aside from a recovered seat, new carpet, and door panel inserts, the interior provides some amenities in the form of Ford floor mats, a heater, a wood-rimmed steering wheel, and an AM/FM stereo.

Pop the hood, and you’ll find a replacement 400 cubic-inch V8 that was installed before the truck was freshened up in 2012. The newer powerplant has been fitted with a set of headers and an Edelbrock carb and intake and sends power to all four wheels via a C6 automatic transmission. Peek underneath, and you’ll notice that it’s every bit as clean as the exterior and interior.

Overall, this 1979 Ford F-150 has everything most Blue Oval truck fans are looking for – it’s the right color, the right configuration, and has just the right amount of mods to make it a highly desirable and sweet-looking rig that’s bound to turn heads everywhere it goes.
