31 vs C1 vs D1 Axles

My E99 has axle code of 31, which checks out to be an open 3.73 for an F-250. I am eyeing up two different trucks, one with C1 axles and one with a D1 axles. Both are 3.73 LS, the C1 lists for use in an F-250 and the D1 lists for use in an F-350. What are the differences between all of these axles and can the C1 and/or the D1 carriers be inserted into my 31 axle housings?

Thanks for the help.

D1: Limited Slip 3.73 F-350
31: 3.73 F-250 / Excursion

Axle code 31 doesn't say Limited Slip...

Thanks, I have that part, I'm wanting to know if the C1 and/or D1 carriers would fit into my housings. Depending on the sale price of the trucks I could end up just swapping in the D1 axles out of the F-350. Is the D1 a Dana 80 and the C1 a Dana 60 or something?

I would think that as long as it is listed as a Sterling 10.5 inch gear set it should be compatible with the housing, if that is your question. Is there a site for them listing available gear ratios?

Dana 80 only came in the dually.

OK, I need some detailed information on these rears. My truck is E99 w/3.37 open rears. Donor truck is '01 F-350 w/3.73 LS rears. I recall hearing that axles are one thing that changed mid year in '99 and I'd like to know what it was if anybody knows. Given that this is an E99 will that carrier out of the '01 still fit right in? And would it be easier/better to switch the axles out vs just the carriers? I'd prefer to just swap the carriers and keep the E99's wheels if possible.

Thanks for the help.

Check your axles BOM but I'm pretty sure the 99 is a sterling 10.25 and the 2000+ is a 10.5

What is a BOM?

Edit: I found it, thanks!
