2 questions on stock manifolds
1975 F250 Highboy with a 360 engine 2 barrel. Truck is bone stock.
2 issues driving me crazy with the exhaust manifolds;
1. I find myself am re-tightening the bolts every other week, getting like a 1/4 to 1/2 turn each time I check the bolts.
What can I do to cure this backing out issue for good.
2. The choke tube is broken right where it inserts into the passenger side manifold. Is there some type of repair part available to re-insert the tube into the manifold?
Thanks in advance

Are you using the original "ramp-lok" bolts?
On the choke tubing. I used 3/16" steel brake line to replace mine. I drilled out the holes in the manifold to match the larger OD of the tubing.
The heat chamber is completely isolated from the exhaust stream so there's no danger of causing an exhaust leak.

Ck out Nord-Lock 2 piece "wedge lock" washers. Nord-Lock Group | Secure and Innovative Bolting Solutions
Nord-Lock wedge-locking washers | Secure your critical bolted joints with the original lock washer from the bolting experts
Are you using a torque wrench and doing a "hot" torque IAW the OEM maint manual as far as torque sequences and min/max torque settings?

Remember the old analog dishes? The ones that were like 10' in diameter.
I had one kid I knew convinced that if you waved your hand in front of one, a silhouette of a hand appeared on the TV screen.
I wonder if Rich sees silhouettes of squirrels?

I work at a machine shop/auto shop. We do not use grade 8 fasteners for exhaust because; a)the repeated heating and cooling cycles seems to gall them leading to premature seizure, b)the grade 8 stuff is more likely to snap a head off rather than flex with expansion. Anyone who has had to drill out a grade 8 or harder fastener will tell you it is a royal pita.

Thanks for the ideas/direction.
The manifold bolts are Ford stock, reused when I rebuilt the engine this summer. Properly torqued and re-torqued hot.
I located this from a Mustang vendor and will call Monday to see if I can make it work for the 1975 360 engine.

Thanks again

My first job out of high school was installing the 8 and 10 foot dishes. Soon learned that anybody that had their dish turned waaay far east was watching The Playboy Channel
