52 F2 Brake drums
#2
You might check with Chuck Mantiglia at Chuck's Trucks. On my '52 F-3 he modified later F-250 rear drums by machining a small amount off the inner lip as I recall him saying. In 1952 both the F-2 and F-3 have 12" rear drums, but I don't know whether both are exactly the same. On the fronts you'll have to see what he says. Stu

Stu, the drums front and rear for the F-2s are the same size. I bought a set of really nice drums years ago from a guy with the intensions of replacing the drums on my '49 F-2. When it came time to do the brakes on the truck I pulled the nice drums off the shelf and found they weren't the same. I later found out the Ford changed brake design in the middle of the '51 model year. I no longer have the drums, after trying to sell them for a fairly long time someone finally bought them. I practically gave them away.
LMC at one time listed F-2 drums but no longer do, at least the last time I checked their website. At the time they had them listed as '48-52, which was incorrect.

On the F-3s I know that Ford switched from Lockheed brakes to Bendix brakes mid-year 1951. Normally we have this discussion with reference to the early year 14" F-3 drums, but I would guess that's what you experienced on your F-2 with its 12" drums. That's why I think an expert like Chuck should be asked, unless he elects to speak up here. Stu

Thanks for the useful information. I have had this truck since 1994 and it hasnt seen the road yet. I used to get parts from Joblot but lost interest when a certain Harley Davidson came into the picture. Now that LMC has many more of the harder to find parts never before available, Im gonna shoot for 2017/2018 to be finished. I wish somebody stamped out Express bed parts. Im gonna try and reproduce a stake pocket and patch panels for the side. I have a seat frame from a parts truck and was wondering what color to redo the seat in. Factory paint on the truck is Sheridan Blue. Thanks again guys.

I had a hard time finding rear drums for my 1950 F2. I do have a complete set of front drums, shoes, backing plates, wheel cylinders, hubs, and hardware that I took off my 1950 F2. Somebody else on here should know if they would fit. They are 12" drums but as the chart that Bill provided shows they are only 2" wide not 2.4". But if budget is an issue for you they should work as the spindles are the same.

I just finished converting my 52 F2 to front discs, drums and shoes are fresh. Was keeping them as spares for rear till I swap out the rearend which might happen sooner than I planned. If you can't make a deal with GlodCo PM me. Maybe I'll sell them before time, it'll make me swap rear sooner too...not trying to step on any toes..

Thanks guys for the offers. It is nice to see there are still good people. My wife has lost her job, so I guess my project is on hold for a bit. Hopefully somebody else can buy them and put them to use. I was hoping to buy them to have just in case they were needed in the future. Thanks again.
