Use of courtesy time out

Planning to get a set of dual white and amber LED's to mount on the step rails

I got the Ambers figured out to be running and turn signals.

What I am struggling and looking for some help is that I want to have the white LED's come on just until I get to the vehicle and then shut off

Thinking of using the courtesy timer circuit for that but have no clue where/how to access

The other option is using a control signal that I would tap off when the vehicle is removed from park

Help in either of those plans or suggestions for another method are greatly appreciated

Since they're led lights we're talking about very low current draw right? I would just tap into the wire harness that lights the third brake light/cargo lights on the back of the cab. Just need to find the wire color in the light housing and then trace back to under the cab or in the footstep trough in the door jamb.

Plus side, you would get a nice fade out when the courtesy timer times out.

No - Retro solutions

They have a 4" DRL with white/amber as a pair

Planning on getting 3 pair and hooking one up to each support

The cargo light suggestion is sheer genius and will allow me to have the lights work exactly like I want with only two relays per side

There are wires that are under rear door that they have there for the lighted running boards, dont they get power when you unlock/lock doors, then time out..

Don't - I don't think it should be super difficult

With the wiring and gymnastics I have had to do on my bikes working on the truck is going to be a welcome change

Take a look at the install instructions for AMP power steps. Mine came with small LED lights to go under each door and they are all triggered from the door wires that get tapped under the front passenger sil plate. The AMP setup powers them through their own controller, but the trigger is coming from the aforementioned wires.

Do you by chance know where a person can get the type of connectors that plug into these ?

My only thought would be the dealer, but I would try places like radio shack first.

Radio Shack doesn't carry anything that specific.
