chevys new motors are equal to fords i would have to say. all the ls motors that is. I wouldn't mind building an lsx sometime, but I would never stick it in a ford. I am definately not a fan of mix matching classics. Now the 5.3 ls ford fairmont, I have to say is a good idea. No harm there. thing does 6.3 in the 1/8 mile on a stock motor with a cam and a big turbo.

Welcome to the internet...breeding ground for unsubstantiated rumors.
I looked, but could not find anything about this. That doesn't mean that such a truck does not exist, but it does mean that the guy does not have it broadcast on the web. Not necessarily a bad idea, because you aren't announcing to the world what is in your garage.
I agree with Monsterbaby in that there is no reason to think it is impossible. Anything is possible with older vehicles like this. If you can put a 6v53T Detroit or 5.9 Cummins diesel under the hood of one of these, why not a Chebby? As a Ford fan, I don't understand the motivation for putting an L88 in one...in fact, it's sickening...but I wouldn't put it past anyone to do this.
There is one thing I am wondering about a little, though. There are quite a few results for 800hp Ford-powered F150s listed if you do a Google search...and you can get an L88 Corvette hood scoop for one of our trucks...so maybe it was misinterpreted as having an 800 hp L88 engine.
As far as whether it's true or not, I don't think it matters. So what if there is such a truck? As 79 F350ts says, it's just another guy with too much time and too much money frankensteining something in his garage.

Wrecking yards tend to do this type of thing all the time. Usually to make a vehicle runable with as little money as possible.
Some of the older wreckers in town are very "hodge podge" etc...
A friend of mine is running a chevy industrial engine in a 1960 F-500. He did this because the EFI conversion kits avaliability.
It happens all the time. Not saying I agree with it though.

I was looking at a 50's model Ford truck at a tractor show one day and it was a decent fixer upper, really thought about buying it just to work on a different generation Ford truck. Asked the guy what was under the hood and he said 350 Chevy and I said well have a nice day.
I don't agree with mixing brands at all. I guess I am kinda a purist. I will admit though none of my trucks are the way they would have came straight from the factory. I wish I had the time and money to do so though b/c I love the trucks that are restored to the way they was when they were setting on the dealer lot.
