I. Recently put exhaust and k&n and not really impressed with the sound either sounds good at idle but when pushing it a bit or worse hauling a trailer it screams and that dam fan whine is enuff to drive a guy up the wall why are they so loud? Sounds like a big rig!
I don't know about these trucks, but you should rarely if ever hear the fan on a big truck. Been my experience that if you're hearing the fan on constantly, something's not right.Or the radiator's way too small.
The fan comes on as part of the start up process from what I read over in the 6.7 forum, so even when it's 15 degrees out, you'll hear it come on for a little while.
And it is definitely loud, that thing is moving some serious air...
Yes that is at the crank. The automatic transmission takes away the biggest part of it and the rest in drive train losses. I fI recall back in my Mustang days the 5spd drivetrain would rob about 13% by the time it got to the ground and the auto about 18%. I would guess our losses in these big trucks would be up in the 20 some percent range.
Has anyone found an air intake that has really made a difference? I am putting on a K&N this week. I have had good results and zero problems from them in the past. Anyone else using one too?
Hi Guys
I have been playing around with an AFE 6.2L Raptor Intake, seeing what fits and doesn't on a Super Duty. Thought i would share some random pics.
Definately keep us posted. I'm very interested in the intake. You do an awesome job on tunes so i wouldn't expect any less on intake. Your tunes Makes pulling my 4 horse slant loaded down a breeze.
