Your honest opinion

I have a 239 boat anchor and a 3 speed tranny.
The 239 needs a rebuild but he tranny is still in good working condition.
I need some ideas on a good asking price to sell them for.
All parts are the from carb to oil pan on motor. All parts for trsns are there too. It's sitting in a 55 F100.
Thanks for your assistance.

Sigh! Not alot of call out there for that kind of thing at the moment!

I'm not trying to be a Smart "A," but honestly, very few people are looking for what you are selling. And it's worth only as much as someone local will pay for it. That's probably a core charge on the engine plus maybe $50-100 for the accessories, and $75-100 for the tranny.

Yeah, I've read on here how a running flathead and trans is only worth about 500 bucks or so. I was interested in what mine was worth one time and found an original running engine on ebay, basically same condition as mine, and it sold for 700. I think your setup could draw 300 or so on ebay. But you just never know.

Thanks for the feed back. I was just trying to figure out if it was worth selling or just junk it. I am going with a different setup so I'm not keeping it. The same goes for the steering wheel and column and box I have.
Thanks again

I would at least try to sell it on this site's classifieds and on craigslist before you scrap it.
Does the flathead turn over? Have you tried to start it? What vehicle did it come from cause ford didn't put flatheads in 55 models, it was y blocks I believe?

The parts may easily be worth more than the whole; exhaust manifolds, accessory brackets, rods, heads.....

reed1951,
It's a 239 Y block, will not turn over. It's in my 1955 F100 I'm restoring.
I thought about parting it out maybe.

I guess I'll start parting it out. Every little bit I make will go back into the truck for newer parts and upgrades.
