Stand-Pipes & Dummy Plugs

I will be ordering the Ford Kit 6E7Z-9A332-B to replace the Stand-Pipes & Dummy PLugs on my 2006 F350. Can anyone tell me if I will need to order new Valve Cover Gaskets, or can I reuse whats currently on the truck?

Thanks

Sorry guys, one more question regarding this subject. Does anyone know of a good write-up on the procudures for this replacement of the Stand-pipes and Dummy Plugs. I have looked on several of the forums and can't seem to find any procudures other then that it's a good idea to replace them before they fail..

Thanks

remove valve covers. remove dummy plugs, install new plug, remove stand pipe, install new stand pipe. reinstall valve cover.

it really is not that bad of a job. you may have to pull the oil rails off if the bottom half of the stand pipe does not comeout. still not a big issue.

The old standpipes and dummy rail plugs require a 10mm allen key to remove. The updated replacements require a 12mm allen key to fasten. Torque both to 60 ft-lbs.

Samething just happened to my 06.
Dealer quoted 2500.00 is it something I could tackle?

I will look into parts, Assume you do not have pull the engine?

Would love your thoughts and feedback.

its around $2-300 in parts in most cases. sometimes less.
I have no idea if you can do it, I have never met you and therefor cannot attest to your mechanical ability's (this is my disclaimer)
I find the job easy and non challanging.... But I do this everyday.
no need to remove the engine.

Thanks for getting back to me.

I understand about your disclamier. I know I could give it a try.

if is just taking parts off to get at it replacing them and getting it back together I think I can handle that. I have a shop and most Common Std and Metric tools.

I can't fathom 2000.00 in labor.

No offense but if you can't pull it off then that is why you are paying $2,000 bucks. It's called knowledge and experience. I hate paying big bucks but you do have to know your limitations.

I was never and have never been in a position to pay someone to fix my cars. Ive been at this for most of my life threw need.
in reallity all fixing anything is, is taking it apart and putting it together in the correct order.

I was just going to drop a message on this same thing tonight. I am on the downhill side of the rebuild(engine going back together but still on the floor). I thought I read everything you guys put out there and bought it all. I have no idea why I missed stand pipes. I got a call today asking where the orings were for the stand pipes and I said I didnt order then but wil get them. Ed the parts guy sent me a diagram and my stand pipe only had two orings. I had to drive to my shop because I told then they were not looking at the right thing as I have a picture. Yes it did only have two, they wanted to get all of the head and boxes and valve covers on tonight as they had some free time so no time to order them. Sorry Ed but thanks for the help. Of to the dealer. He told me they dont sell the orings and you have to buy the stand pipe. So I said oh well and he proceeded to tell me he didnt have them. Off to another dealer. they had them $53.00 each. Took them back and they were way longer. Then looked and saw we had to take out the plug. Guess an upgrade. I sure have lots of new parts on this thing. I will post a list of everything that went into the engine when done. Not sure this was such a good idea now, but I am sure it will all be worth it.
