Cool Help! Torque converter nut stripped.

I'm in the process of pulling my 351w from my c6 tranny. (engine rebuild). I got to the last torque converter nut and it just spins in place. I'm assuming the threads are stripped on the nut. Has anyone ran into that problem? I really don't want to separate the converter from the trans. Only option i can see now is to bust the flywheel but i don't want to do that either. Its too close to the flywheel to put a prybar between.

The threads are striped on the stud ...

If you can get something underneath it, try prying it off while you turn it ...

Hope you're not pulling it because the motor has/had a knock, if you are you may very well have just found your knock.

-Enjoy

No i just bought the truck and it had a blown head gasket. I am rebuilding it with gt40 heads. I can't get anything in between the nut to pry it off... I'm hoping that the threads on the nut are stripped and not the stud in the converter. The whole process was easy until this last bolt.

Unfortunately, It's likely the stud, if it was the nut it would still come off tearing up the stud on it's way ...

The goal of trying to pry under the nut is only to try and get it to bite threads, not pry it all the way off ...

Carefully pry between the TC and Flex plate to apply some force to see if it'll bite and spin off..

Remember the goal is to apply some force WHILE turning the nut!

The only other option I know is to take a small grinder (or a nut splitter) and split the nut or cut it off, stud and all!

I have had luck spinning things like that off with an impact gun, but I don't think you can get one on the TC nuts very easy...
