Fuel Problems..Where is the FPDM on 2004 F250 SD 5.4?
I have a 2004 F250 FX4 SD 5.4.. It has 37K and is a reg cab.
I've had intermittent starting problems with this truck since I bought it. Lately however they have been increased in frequency. I do believe, at this point the problem is fuel related.
Here is what the truck is doing:
-Starts, sputters for a few seconds and dies (sometimes it won't restart for 30 minutes, other times it won't restart for hours.
- Starts and runs perfectly for days
- The last few days I've had about a 1/4 of tank or less, the truck has driven flawlessly. Today I filled the truck, sputtered and died. Wouldn't restart for hours. Finally started up and then I could NOT get the problem to come back.
I've been told to change fuel filter, and check fuel pump relay, and fuel pump drive module, or fuel pump control module. I'm not sure where ANY of these items are located on my truck. A ford serviceman told me the fuel pump drive module was under the spare tire. I lowered the spare and could not locate it. ANY help would be MUCH appreciated!

Okay, well today I found out that my truck does not have a fuel pump driver/control module. So my fuel problems are either a bad fuel pump, fuel pump relay, or pcm.
Does anybody know where the fuel pump relay is located on this year/model truck. I was told under the hood, and under the dash but I did not find it under the dash, and have no idea where it would be under the hood. Any help?

Yeah I looked in the manual, was one of the first things I did. My manual does not say the location of the relay. My fuse box is inside the truck under the drivers knees. There are some other " relay-appearing" componets under the hood drivers side, but I do not kno for sure what is what.
BTW, the truck has been fixed for a while now. It WAS the fuel pump, runs like a champ now.
