302 or 351 windsor into 2004 f150
Hi there, my brother has a 2004 f150, with a tonne of problems and ford wants 4600 to fix it, with no guarantee that it will work. I am thinking about just yanking out the 5.4 for him and swapping it with a 302 or 351 windsor and being rid of the computer and all that. However I dont know much about fords, I drive a dodge cummins, and a Chevy Silverado myself. I am wondering if a 351 would bolt up the to the transmission in his truck right now or If I would need to put a C4 or something in too. Has anyone done a swap like this that could point me in the right directions?

The Modular engines and transmissions share absolutely nothing with the old Windsor platform so this is a complete powertrian swap not just a motor. The best plan of attack is to swap in another 5.4.. if the one in there now actually needs replacement, anything else will be a giant rats nest.

Look for an independant shop with former Ford guys running it. I found one nearby and they have been great.
It sounds like a step-by-step analysis and diagnosis of the vehicle is needed, not guess work or parts throwing.
Putting a 302 or 351w in it--you might as well burn it and try to claim it on the insurance....
