coil packs oem or aftermarket

Guys, been chasing a stumble on my 2000 v-10. i have swapped all the original cop's for BWD packs from adv.auto....have had a stumble for a couple of weeks now. (see earlier posts for details) was beginning to think it was transmission, took it to ford this morning to have it scanned, they told me it was # 6 and # 9 packs had a slight miss. had swapped out #9 couple of weeks ago when i did tune up. they were warrantied from advance, so i swapped them out. still has stumble/slight shudder.....i have a friend who wholesales motor craft parts tell me that ford trucks need the oem cops when you replace them. any truth to this or does it matter? hate to drop 400 bucks for new cops, but if that is what i need to get truck in top shape...........thanks Britt

Are the plugs fairly fresh? I wore a pair out in around 40,000 miles and it was running like that. BWD are what I use and they seem great.

Have you rechecked the inside if every boot to make sure its clean and making good contact, then made sure the electrical plugs are all clean and tight?

I had a miss after changing mine and thoes two things on sevral diffrent cylinders were the reason.

Stay away from the "high performance" branded coils; MSD, ACCELL..

I've found the most reliable coils to be either STANDARD or BWD.

Since it's multiple cylinders, it could be a mixture problem. Remember, dielectric grease is an INSULATOR - so if it got onto the spring or plug tip, it could be part of the problem.

update....swapped all 10 packs for oem. noticed an interesting tidbit, on some of the BWD packs, the boots were a little shorter than the oem ones....HMMMMMMM...wonder if that could have contributed to the stumble? only drove it a couple miles tonite, so will know more in next couple of days...

they jook alike....did you do a side by side length of boot comparison? Not saying they arent the right ones....its hard to tell in the cylinder hole how far the boot goes down on the plug. i was able to swap my bwd coil packs for oem motorcraft for less than 15.00 total for all ten C O P's
