94 f 250 fuel pressure regulator do i have to release the pressure first?
I'm changing a bad fuel pressure regulator on my 94 4x4 f 250 hd 351w(5.8l). My friend checked it for me and its bad.Do I have to release the pressure before I change it or can I just loosen the alan screws and pull it up without gas going all over the place?need some help I never change a fuel pressure regulator before.also does advanced sell this or is this something I have to get from the dealer? He told me to lube the regulator's o-ring seals with petroleum jelly.where do I buy that?any info will help since I never did this before.

Do NOT lube the regulator's o-ring seals with petroleum jelly, it can mess up the injectors, use 10W30 motor oil.
Advance auto parts should sell the FPR.
Release pressure from fuel system at fuel pressure relief valve (Schrader) on intake manifold. To gain access to fuel pressure relief valve, valve cap must first be removed.
OR pull the fuel pump fuse or the fuel pump relay and start the engine and let it run until it dies.
Note:
If it has not been started in the last 24 hours the pressure is more than likely at zero anyway.
Remove vacuum line at fuel pressure regulator.
1. Remove two Allen head retaining screws from regulator housing.
2. Remove fuel pressure regulator, return seal and both O-rings. Discard the return seal.
Installation
1. Lubricate fuel pressure regulator O-ring with 10W-30 oil WSE-M2C903-A2 or equivalent.
2. Make sure O-ring surfaces of fuel pressure regulator and fuel injection supply manifold are clean.
3. Install O-rings and new return seal on fuel pressure regulator.
4. Install fuel pressure regulator on fuel injection supply manifold. Tighten two retaining screws to 3-5 N-m (27-44 in-lb).
5. Install vacuum line to fuel pressure regulator.
