1989 f150 fuel system problem

So I am rather poor so a friend has been kindly trying to help me fix my problem, but he is at his wits end now, so I am trying to find some information for him. (I am not a car guy but i can get around a computer, he cant get around a computer.) So anyway, the problem started with my truck sputtering and dying over 30 mph. So, thought it was fuel filter or fuel pump, and filter needed to be changed anyway, so changed filter. The fuel pump is fine as far as we can tell, so we thought it was an electrical problem, and it partially was because evidently the cellenoid was almost gone. Also the negative battery cable was having connection problems, which we have fixed. However, yesterday he had it running for over 20 minutes just fine, and today, he cannot get it to start. He has done some research, and found a few things, like there was some kind of recall on parts of this trucks fuel system in the past, and i have no clue if it was ever done. There is a button to reset the entire fuel system, and he thinks that is where the problem may lie now, but he cant get it to reset, and he tried a few different things he found researching.
So, i am posting, about to ask a few questions he has. Then i will have him read the responses and go from there.. Thank you for the help.. I really cant afford a mechanic at the moment.
Going through his notes now:

He would like to know if anyone might have a link or an easy way to get a diagram of the sellenoid(sp?) and the battery wiring.(also my truck was an ex cop truck, it has a lot of extra wires many unnecessary that we have no clue what all of them were originally.

The truck will start a fewe moments with spray, but dies quickly.
The fuel pump primes, but the pressure seems light.

He says it seems like there is simply no spark to light the gas?(although im cloudy on that one if it starts with spray:

The emergency fuel shut off switch is off, he has tried to reset it but does not think he has.

He asks if anyone could point him toward a fuse diagram.

Any general advice on the matter would be appreciated.\

THis truck was the 2nd largest V8 made that year.

I need to get back on the road before my girlfriend shoots me.

Thank you
Ron Stephens
