Well it fits completely inside the stock shroud & so far this summer I've only switched it to "Hi" once. But whats better is I only have to take 2 screws out to pull the whole thing out if I want to do work on the front of the engine.
Try that with the normal aftermarket mounting systems.

Don't, I repeat, Dont remove the shroud unless you fabricate another to fit the new fan. The shroud is there to direct the air through the radiator. Removing it will cause the operating temp to increase and allow the engine to overheat.

You'll still need to have a proper shroud to direct the airflow through the radiator. Most speed shop catalogs don't carry these items, as most of their hardcore customers only use them on the strip.
Most any sheetmetal fabricator can fab up a proper shroud for a little money.
