Hey, a quick radiator position question 6vs8
I moved my Radiator from the 8 cyl position to the 6. The hole in the body line up OK but what about that fender support piece. Three bolts to the radiator and one to the outside fender. Does the whole support piece move forward?? Are there holes for the fender side position? Or can I just swing the three to the radiator???
thanks,
bob

Bob, the whole fender support should move forward to match the radiator support hoop since they use the same 3 bolts on either side. I've never though to check, but there should be another hole through the upper and lower fender joint farther forward to accomodate this. Another thing to throw out there - The air dam in the hood has two positions also, but the dam sits deeper into the taper of the nose of the hood when in the 6 cylinder position. Consequently, the 6 cyl. dam is narrower than the V-8 piece. 6 cyl. dams pop up on fleaBay from time to time, but I would think that you could cut a little strip out of the middle and narrow your V-8 dam to fit.

I will have to take some pictures of my issue...
First ... im not sure if my rad is in the correct position
second... im not sure that my fan shroud is v8 or 6.
The rad seem like it may be a little high on the shoe... but its my first 50's truck so IDK!
Maybe I just need some pics of the correct v8 shroud and rad height in the opening?
My truck is a 272 v8 with a 4 spd on the floor.

I'll see what I can do tonight if someone doesn't beat me to it.
On a second point if folks are still watching. Now that the radiator s in the 6cyl pos. My drain for the rad is hitting the inner front valence(?) I'm not sure where to go from ther just bite the bullet and buy a new rad for modify the sheet metal??

I have my rad in 6 postion and the drain was no problem when I had my stock V8 rad because the drain is at a 45 deg angle and recessed. With the new aftermarket one I had to use a plug instead of a drain petcock. I also went with an electric fan and with the rad in the 6 postion I found the engine easier to work on and the engine more visible for those that want to take a peak.
