Sure. This is off a 51 (EB), and it's a single piece hinge:
Note that the hinge is bolted to the lower lip of the dash with the cardboard glove box liner in between the hinge and the dash.
Also, my mounting screws on the door itself a oversized!
Curved "tab" object on the right in the upper photo (and left below) is the spring.

Two part? Single Assembly! It's all fastened together. Looks like yours was cut in the inside middle if I'm looking at the picture right. Folks will do that if they have trouble with door alignment - it give you a little more flexibility.

All the way back to "Julie" days, scary.
My spring has long since been installed ; and has not come off since. Not sure why you are having trouble with yours coming off; other than my spring looks slightly different than what you have:
