Dual vs. Quad Shocks?
I want you guys to help me with the advantages and disadvantages of Dual vs. Quad shocks. Im soon gonna be putting in some new ones and i was wondering about putting quad shocks in the front of my 78 F-150 but dont know how it will affect ride quality vs. articulation...I have Dual shocks up there now and it still rides like a lumber wagon and i want a real soft suspension for hittin the bumps and speeds and not have the contents of the box emptied each time.

More shocks=rougher ride. Think more towards a quality shock instead of the quantity of shocks. For a softer ride, I'd consider looking at different springs, something from the Deaver line preferably. That being said, it's an old truck, meant to be a truck, you want a smooth ride, buy a car.

Hey, it's not really your fault. Ford calls it a "quad shock" setup. However, in the aftermarket, it's the same thing as dual shocks. A "dual shock kit" will give you 2 shocks per wheel, for a total of 4 shocks per axle.
But to answer your question, dual (or quad) shocks will help control high speed bumps. However, if you're loosing stuff from the bed......shocks aren't gonna help much without first addressing the rear springs.
