Can I get some opinions on wheels - 15's/mudders or 18's/street?

Hello everyone. I'm a newbie on this forum and was wondering if there were some opinions on what type of wheels would look better on my truck.

I currently have polished silver 15's on 37" mudders. My questions is, would my F150 look better by going to a larger wheel, say an 18" or 20" chrome wheel with an A/T tread which of course I would match the diameter at 35 or 37"? ....which wouldn't give it the mudder/offroad look.

I was at a show a few months ago and saw a 76 that had the larger chrome rim and A/T tread versus the smaller wheel with mudders and it gave it a little classier look.

I am a fan of chrome and my truck has plenty of it inside and out, so either way, I want to get rid of the silver ones on there now and put chrome. The question is, chrome 15's and mudders or chrome 18's and higher and street all terrains. I've been struggling over this for the past few weeks.

Thanks for any help and thoughts on this.

Some opinions would be appreciated.

I would probably go with 18's if it were me. Or maybe, just to throw another wrench in the gears, 17's? Kind of a compromise maybe? Truck looks awesome BTW!

Thanks 79_effie! I'm willing to compromise.....I've been searching for a few weeks and people have been struggling with this request because of the low to negative offset on the late model fords. They've also been cautioning me to NOT use spacers.

It's expensive, so going up a size or two to get all new tires makes me not want to do it. Best quotes I've been getting are $2500 for wheels and tires in the 18" range. I might as well buy 15" chrome rims and sell my silver ones on ebay, then I could use my same tires which only have 4-5k miles on them. But like I said, I'm wondering what would make my truck look better; the larger rims and a/t tires or 15's and mudders.

i spent 2K on my 35x12.5x18's im running nitto mud grabbers with an ultra wheel. mud tires are loud on the highway. so if you want to drive alot on the road i'd go with a nice all terrain tire. i like the nittos terra grabbers. i really like my 18"s keeps a good side wall load capacities. if you plan on towing or hauling make sure your wheels and tires can handle the weight. i like 20's even and i get crap for that, but a 20 with a decent side wall can handle a lot more weight than a 15 with a 35" tire. i will say the only draw back on my 35"s is these nitto's are heavy. a lot heavier than some other 35"s so it does hurt in some areas, but the gains are worth it. btw, i got one hell of a deal on my tires from a local shop. better than some internet sites so do you homework and check around.

I just put 17x9 procomp aluminum model 1069's & 315/70r17 Goodyear Wrangler Duratrack's & I am amazed with how good it looks!

In my opinion, 37's on 15's just don't look right - use a bigger wheel.

Great lookin' truck by the way!

I like the the 15 or 16 inch wheels and taller tires much more than the "HOTWHEELS" look......Maybe I am just too old......

In your case I would personally choose 18's with mud terrains. For some reason I think that mud terrains just look at home on these classic trucks. If you want a quiet ride, shop around as there are lots of mt's around that ride just a smooth/quiet as some all terrains.

I'm running 18x12 Weld Racing rims on 40" BFGs M/T K2. I feel that they look good and work great.

My buddy F350BRCO runs 18x12 Weld rims on 38" Toyos and also runs 15x12 beadlocks with 42" tires in his dad's truck

Here it is on the 18" wheels

Here it is on 15" wheels

My other buddy runs 20x12 Weld Racing rims on 42" BFGs M/T K2

That's interesting looking at Blue79350's pics.

His (your) Blue truck looks awesome with the bigger wheels, but the Black truck looks goofy with the 18" wheels and looks badass with the 15 inchers.

Just me and my stupid opinion but I would go with the old style 15 inchers. If you do decide to put 18`s on there you ought make your tires 37`s or so. 20 inches or more to me seems like way too much unless you get some huge tires.

I think you're right...I'm checking around town and prices seem better some online vendors, however, there's a guy on ebay that sells tires super cheap....hope their good, cause I don't think anyone's beating his prices.
