Multiple Repairs

In the month of April I spent quite a lot on my truck. I had the spark plugs replaced, and a set of tires put on. This was no biggie, both of these were expected. However, I needed my hubs replaced as well. This added quite a bit to my repair bill.

Now, my sliding rear window has quit working. I know that there is an issue with this with many of these trucks, but my question is, is this an easy fix? After spending $2,400 on my truck, I do not want to give my dealership another dime right now. They've done good work, and are very nice, but I'm ready to not have another repair bill.

If the slider is closed, wait until you've got the spare money to cover the bill. Or just leave it be and forget about it.

Sorry I can offer anything more. I hope when my slider fails it's closed because I rarely use the thing.

yeah I hope my slider dont go. I actually do use it quite a bit. But I noticed lately when I open and close it it is noisy. like a grinding noise.

Oh yeah, I feel your pain. I have spent quite a bit on mine too this past month. I had a c-v boot replaced, and they had to replace the axle too because the mechanic couldn't get it back together(it was corroded). That actually wasnt too bad, it was the spark plugs that killed me. I got it goin tomorrow for a check of the lower ball joints and an alignment with a camber kit installed, so that could be bad if they put the ball joints in. Luckily I shouldn't need tires till next year!

My slider is closed (thankfully), so I guess it'll have to wait. Ya know, my old Ranger was a LOT easier and cheaper to repair.

I have had a few times where my back slider hasn't opened, but I have just kept pushing open, then close, then open..close. Just kept going back and forth, back and forth quickly and eventually it has opened(and then operated fine). Sometimes it has taken 20 times or so of doing that. And a few times I have just kept doing that ocassionally why driving around and it has opened. Right now it has been perfect lately. No problems. Don't know if you could get that to work with yours or not, but it might be worth a shot.

IF it is just dragging try lubing the tracks up with 3M dry silicone spray and working it till it slides easily. If it is grinding bad from the cable drum you will probably need a new cable and motor assy. If it doesnt move at all from friction locked motor you can often get by with just changing the motor. Still have to buy the cable with motor from Ford but you can just use the motor and save the cable for a later failure if you dont want to fight that cable on.
