Firing Order and position on distributor for cylinders

Hey guys. i need to run the wires on my 5.0L now and all the markings i made on the wires are missing now so i have no clue which wire goes where. Is the firing order i need to use the HO order- 1-3-7-2-6-5-4-8??? or should i still be using the stock order that the truck engine originally had??? i know i had this info saved on my computer, but it got messed up and that stuff was lost.. thanks guys!!!

If its a roller motor use the HO order , rightside front to back 1234 , left side front to back 5678

The firing order for the motor depends exclusively on the cam, and yes that is the HO firing order. And just for clarity the passenger side is the first bank and the distributor turns counter clockwise.

ok cool. thats what i thought. one more question. is there a line or something on the distributor to show where the #1 plug wire should be??? Like i said in the original post, mine isn't marked anymore and i didn't think to mark a line on the cap with paint or anything to show where number 1 was at. thanks guys.

I think you are going to have to go back to first principles.
You will need to get No1 piston at Top Dead Center ON THE COMPRESSION STROKE. IF you take NO1 spark plug out and get a helper to crank the engine while you put your finger over the plug hole you will feel the compressed air blow past your finger as No1 comes up on the compression stroke. Stop cranking then and use the timing mark on the crankshaft pulley to get TDC. The rotor will now be pointing at No1 position.
Good luck.

# 1 will be on the back side of the cap , then follow the firing order counter clock wise around the cap . And like above rotor should be pointing at #1 when its at TDC on the compression stroke ....

i think i got it figured out. thanks guys. i got in and the wires run. will have to double and triple check once i get everything else done so the engine can crank. still gotta pull the distributor anyways to prime it i think anyways so i will check again when i do that.

The reluctor wheel in the distributor has a narrow tooth for cylinder 1. The distributor needs to be clocked so that the narrow tooth is within the hall effect sensor when on TDC #1 compression stroke. Then set ignition timing from there using a timing light.
