300 HD intake and Clifford

Edit: Just noticed I called the HD exhaust manifold an "intake". Not correct!!!!

Hi guys, I am about to have my 300 rebuilt and try to stick it in a 64 shortbed. I have got the motor disassembled and getting close to taking it to the machine shop.

For better or worse, I have been acquiring parts.....

I picked up a clifford intake at the Pate swap meet last week for a good deal. I was pleased about that score!

I also have found an HD exhaust manifold too. Hearing that it flows better than stock, I thought it would be a good addition.

PROBLEM THOUGH!

What I test fit them, there is no way the manifolds are going to bolt together. The runners on the Clifford are long and it does not even allow the heat riser to begin to line up.

So, my thought is to have someone weld up the opening for the heat riser on the exhaust manifold and enclose it. Decent plan?

Thanks!

The heat riser is not supposed to touch on the clifford intake. They were designed to use headers or the like for the exhaust. I would use EFI manifolds personaly as they are good flowing and will seal up. If you go sith the HD manifold you will need to make a plate to bolt on and then probboly have it brazed shut. That should plug up your riser.

I dont know what you mean about the four bolt/three bolt pattern.

the hd manifold your talkin is from off a dump truck right. cuz that manifold is gold, it flows better then EFI and the cheap after market headers. no im not kidding the headman headers that everyone buys cuz its cheap is junk. the HD header found on older ford mid size big trucks flows like crazy. for your problem just make a plate out of like 1/4" steel and just bolt it on to block off the riser. dont forget to wire that valve open so your exhaust flows out and not just get blocked up. post up a pic of your manifold i would like to see it ive been dying to see one.

The Clifford isn't designed to bolt up to the stock heat riser setup, so it won't work. As said, you'll have to wire it open, or just remove it. Those HD Manifolds flow like crazy though, and are pretty cool looking.
