up grade steering wheel

I have a 2004 super duty xlt. The steering wheel has only the cruze control buttons on it. anyone swapped the steering wheel for one with audio controls on it? can it be done? I installed a new touch screen head unit in the truck and I hate reaching over to adjust the volume. (LAZY) (spoiled) My stereo guy states he can hook up the wires if I can find a replacement steering wheel.

Anyone out ther who had any knowledge of this request please let me know.

I take it you don't have kids who can reach over and adjust the radio for you? That was my dad's idea of "remote control" 30 years ago. Shoot, it was even hands-free voice-command remote control!

It was only hands free if you heard him the first time and he didn't have to smack in the back of the head to get your attention.

Shoot, on an old rust bucket mini-truck I used to own decades ago, I taught my 3 year old daughter to shift for me! I'd stick in the clutch and yell, "SECOND" and she'd shift. We both had great fun doing that. My (now ex) wife gave birth to kittens when she saw that one.

My dad used to let me shift his old beat-up BMW. One of my best memories as a kid.

anyway, back to the topic. Try the junkyard, or maybe partsguyed. There is a lot of (expensive) stuff in the steering wheel like airbags that you will want to make sure will work properly when you are done.

It might be worth purchasing a shop manual CD if you don't have one already. You don't want that airbag going off in your face.

I'm very interested in doing this as well. Has anyone done it?
