I just bought a 2008 F250 Crew cab 6.4 diesel, with a 12,500 lb towing capacity. I need to purchase a receiver, ball, etc that is capable of carrying large trailers. Most appear to be rated to only 5k or 6k lbs. Are there stronger ones available? Or is it because anything over 6k requires a weight-distributing hitch?
I intend to tow a toy hauler 3-4 times per year with a total weight of 8-10k lbs.

 

Look underneath your bumper. the reciever is already there, rated for 12.5K. Did you also get the integrated trailer brake controller and tow mirrors?

 

I may have mispoke. Yes, the receiver is there, its the tow bar insert I'm referring to.

 

You will need to go to an RV place. I take it you don't have the toy hauler yet? A rv place can set you up with one that is made for the truck, rated for the wt.
