While I was about to take a nap lying under the truck, i did notice that the rear cables seemed kinda long compared to a reg cab.

I definitely could be wrong but...just saying.

I have a '79 super cab 4x4 F-350. Pretty original other than the motor, because it has a 460 in it now. Have what I believe is the build sheet and original bill of sale? Grew up with a '77 1/2 ton short box 4x4 as one of my 1st vehicles. Always reliable, so after all these years at not having one I missed them. I have newer trucks but I tell you, kinda tired of when it doesn't work or theres problems, tow it in an we'll fix it @ $110.00/hr! Back in the days when it didn't run properly or break down you would just fix it yourself and move on, even out in the bush theres always a possible fix!........not with the new ones lol, so I went on a mission. Wanted a supercab 4x4 F-250 as a drive and sorta restore it at the same time situation. Have it now but haven't really driven it much!.........at least I have it lol.

That's a nice looking truck, but this thread is about the '73-'76 Super Camper Specials, 77-79 Camper Specials and the Trailer Specials. All dent sides, all F-350s and all on 140" wheelbase with the spare tire behind a door in the side of the bed. They also had big brakes, big blocks and big tires. The Supers before the Super Dutys, if you will.

i didn't think i was invited since i was just a lowly Trailer Special ...but since you've mentioned my kind, i now feel welcome.

so far it is pretty much stock, except for the wheels which came with the truck when i bought it. I've got a rust free spare tire door waiting to get painted and a patch panel cut from a rust free truck for the box side on the driver's side that needs to get installed.

took a couple days last year and did a little interior work. put black vinyl on the headliner and had the visors recovered with the same vinyl to match. painted the dash and re-dyed the dash pad and door panels to freshen them up (door panels were blue when i bought it). just tried to make it a little nicer on the inside too. still need to re-paint the steering column, gauge bezel and get a new horn pad. would like to respray the heater box and floor vents this year as well.

gets used as our back-up heavy hauler during the summer. So far its got a tick over 85k on the clock.

oh yea, i polished the gauge lens too

future plans for this summer is a weiand intake and edelbrock carb. and if i can pull the money together i'll throw in a Lunati Voodoo cam ... but we'll see how deep my pockets are when i get there.

happy to be a part of the club!

No problem. F-350 4x4s deserve a thread of their own
Nice to see some more activity in this thread. And the interior in that TRAILER Special looks SWEET. Nice work

How many of you are still running the 16.5 super singles on your SCS? What tires are you running? I'm looking for a set of tires for the 16.5 wheels for a project of mine. The only tire I can find that is feasible for my project is a BFG A/T 33".

i was able to find one source for the 12.00 x 16.5" tires
Light Truck Tires Hot Deals from Nebraska Tire - Quality discount tires and wheels for you!

scroll down about half way on the left hand side.
they have 12 ply for 290 each
and 14 ply for 300 each.

that is the only source i have been able to find, other than skid steer tires.
