2002 F250 Duper Duty Headlight replacement

replace them with what?
The regular "upgrades" such as the bluer bulbs are a simple install exactly the same as regular bulbs. Spin the connection, pull out the bulb, disconnect the bulb and install the new one. Make sure not to touch the new bulb. Finger oils don't increase longevity.
The only other replacement I can recall would be HID. Tons of money but rich people seem to like them. I'm not sure how they install. Considering the popularity of the light bulb connection pattern, are they just plug and play replacements once the ballast and wiring are situated?

You can change the BULBS but turning them in the housing then pulling them out so that the bulb can be removed from the socket.
You can change the housings by taking them out of the truck with basic hand tools. If you want to upgrade to the newer style housings you can do that easily too... Search for "Headlight upgrade" or "Harley headlight upgrade" on google to find different sets of instructions.

i plan on getting some HID's in the near future. they can be somewhat expensive, but they are not that bad. aboout $190. and to me are worth it for the benefits. i wouldnt waste my time with buying a cheap set from ebay or anything like that. i will be purchasing mine from retrosolutions.com. you can put them in the stock housing, but you have to aim them right. you dont want to be a hazard as well getting flashed all the time. the best way to do it is get aftermarket projector beams. also, i will be getting 4300 K HID's. they are closer to a white color and are brighter than the stupid blue ones. they are plug and play replacements or will come with a harness, and then you just have to find a good place to mount the ballast.

You can work around them, but it is easier to remove the battery before you mess with that side. It is a very tight fit if you don't. Your knuckles will thank you for it!
I upgraded to the Sylvania Ultrastar 9007 bulbs with the Gos Racing upgrade light harness (Upgraded Headlight Harness for 94 to 04 Ford with 9007 Bulbs) and am very happy with the improvement.

Gos Racing upgrade light harness
brian42,
Do you feel like the Gos Racing upgrade light harness made a real big difference? I run the SylvaniaSilverstar Ultra 9007 bulbs as well, but without the Gos Racing upgrade light harness. The Gos Racing upgrade light harness is listed on that link you provided for $69.00 and I'm just curious if you felt it was worth it? Thinking of doing it myself...

Neighbor has a 2001 Ex. V10 that has had nothing but issues with his HID set up after some 4 yrs on the road.
He was convinced to go with some PIAA Ultrabright (white) bulbs that are plug and play and 4500-K bright.
They were under 69$ and he tells me if he could do it over, he never would have spent the coin on the HID set up.The PIAA bulbs are DOT approved and WICKED BRIGHT.
YMMV.

I got some 3500k from ddmtuning.com. they go in the stock location just fine. I have had them for about a year without a problem. i hear they are very high quailty. 4300k will definitely be bluish. my 3500k's are about as close to blue as i can stand. but it might depend on the brand. plus they only cost about $50
