rear sump oil pan

First what engine do you have now? Check your engine mounts and perches...and also what type of transmission do you have? Keeping it or replacing it as well?
I just did almost the same thing...I put a 351W in my 78, (had a 351M front sump). I was told by lots of people I would have to change my oil pan to a front sump...never could get a clear answer as to what would work (pan wise), so I tried it...guess what it worked. Have about 3" clearance with the rear sump pump 351W. Don't know if that will be the case in your situation...but just yesterday I put mine in...Hope it helps...Everyone on here gives great advise and are SUPER HELPFUL! The best place for info you will find! Use it!
