The question i have you is i have a 1988 ford 350 with the 460 3 speed automatic transmission, i found a good deal on a 87 ford 4 speed c6 transmission. Will it swap in, and is it direct , if not what will i have to swap
was the 87 transmission bolted up to a 460 also? if it is,then it will mate to your 460. If it has the 351w/302/300-6 bolt pattern,it will not bolt up.

it was bolted to a 460. Will the shift linkage, oil lines all be the same? WIll it be take out the old and put the new in the same way? Thanks
There is no such thing as a 4 speed C6 they are all three speeds.

Ok i am just going off what the guy told me. All i know for sure is it is bolted to a 460. So no matter what trans it is it will fit in my truck without changing any of my trucks lines or linkage?
Not trying to be a jerk or any thing, just make sure you know what it is, if it is a C6 it should go in just fine but if it is a 4 speed it isn't a C6 and it won't just bolt right in. I think the E4OD is the 4 speed auto used behind the 460, but it shouldn't be in an 87. The E4OD would be a pretty major swap because it is longer and computer controlled.

If it has OD then its not a C6. I didn't think they put the AOD behind the 460 and I don't think the E4OD came out till later, but I could be wrong or it could be swapped. I have only owned manuals so autos aren't exactally my strong point.
